Copilot is staying in the Teams chat list. Hold the training email.
The planned shortcut removal has been cancelled. Check MC1477999 before sending instructions for a change that is no longer proceeding.
If you were about to tell everyone where Microsoft had moved Copilot in Teams, hold that email.
The planned removal of the Copilot shortcut from the Teams chat list has been cancelled, according to the October 8 update to message MC1477999 reproduced in the public Microsoft 365 Message Center Archive. The archive recorded the revision October 9 and marks the rollout cancelled. Read the notice and its version history.
This was the planned October change to the chat-list entry point on desktop and web. It is not a promise that every other Teams or Copilot interface change has stopped.
Read the update before the instructions
The cancellation sits above the original removal instructions. Keep scrolling and you can still find directions to update training materials and prepare users for a shortcut that was going away.
Apparently the instructions need instructions.
If your team prepared a notice for this specific removal, check the updated message before sending it. If you already sent one, a short correction beats leaving employees waiting for a change that has been called off.
This report relies on a public reproduction of Microsoft’s notice, not access to your organization’s Message Center or an independent test of your Teams client. An administrator can check MC1477999 in the organization’s own Message Center. Other rollout notices should be evaluated separately.
Keep the message ID and the date with your training notes. A screenshot tells people where to click. The latest notice tells you whether you still need to send it.
